Cow themed wedding cakeWe came to Sarah with a very unique request for a "cow" themed cake as my husband is a cattle rancher.  We thought Sarah would think we were crazy, but instead was very excited about making such a unique cake.  We got to choose the flavor for each layer of cake and its fillings; this was a very difficult decision because she had so many wonderful flavors and combinations to choose from, but Sarah was very helpful in giving pointers towards our final decision.  Sarah put a lot of effort and time into this cake and it showed the day of our wedding.  There were multiple cute little fondant cows and daffodils all over each layer with an intricate rope as a border.  The guests, reception staff and ourselves were amazed at how elegant such a silly idea came out.  The flavor was unlike any cake we have ever tasted, it was absolutely wonderful!!  Still, to this day, family and friends talk about how neat and wonderful the cake was, and we kept a few of the cows as a memoir under our wedding pictures.  If you are looking for a very personal and unique cake, Sarah is definitely the baker/designer to go to!

My husband and I met with Sarah to create a non traditional wedding cake. We knew what we wanted for a design and cake flavors. After talking with Sarah, we ended up changing our cake flavors especially after we did our tasting (which we really didn't want to do). The cake flavors and filings are unbelievable. As far as our "wacky" cake that my husband wanted it couldn't have come out better. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the taste or the creation she made. Picking out my wedding cake was one of my favorite parts about planning my wedding.  Cake tasting at Flour Girl was so much fun.  Sarah had all the different cakes and frostings laid out, so you could try out different combinations of cakes with all the various frostings.  Sarah was really easy to work with, and she is willing to help you personalize your cake to make it your own.  She was able to add little sugar ladybugs to my cake, which I totally loved.  I highly recommend Flour Girl Wedding Cakes!

Sarah was extremely professional throughout the entire cake design and ordering process. At the tasting, she was honest about which flavors work well together, which I needed since I had no idea, and provided a wide variety of cakes, frostings and fillings to choose from. While deciding which type of cake to order, she patiently answered all of my questions, and even helped me pick an appropriate topper when I was having trouble choosing. The cake design was gorgeous and elegant - it looked so perfect, it was hard to cut into it! And the cake itself was delicious and fresh - it tasted amazing. I didn't have a chance to eat a whole piece during the wedding (just that bite my husband fed me), but luckily two pieces were saved at my place setting. As the staff was cleaning up, I ran over to my seat to take another bite, and ended up eating BOTH pieces - yum! Dear Sarah: Thank you so much for the beautiful wedding cake you did for our winter wedding 2009 at Edgewood, Tahoe. We remember your work so fondly that we find ourselves coming back to Tahoe just to get another cake for our subsequent anniversaries!

Everything about the cake was quality from the artistic combination of crystals and icing, making it look like an elegant winter snowscape, all the way to the delicious rich flavors. Our three-layer cake was more than enough to serve a wedding guest list of 120. Some guests commented that all three flavors were so delicious that they made a point to have a slice of each: spice with cream cheese frosting, vanilla bean with chocolate ganache and Bavarian cream, and finally, in the separate groom’s cake– delicious German chocolate.

Sarah, you went above and beyond for us in agreeing to make a second smaller cake just a few months ahead of the event and we sincerely appreciated this.

Finally, everything about the presentation of the cake at the event was professional. It arrived on time, it was plated exactly how we expected, and it’sappearance was flawless. Everything we needed was provided seamlessly. Professional wedding planners often say that the cake and the dress set the stage and Flour Girl provided us the beautiful centerpiece we were looking for. Thank you so much Sarah!
